Hello, friend!
It’s hard to believe, but my trip to Angoulême with the Canadian delegation was a full year ago. With all the news coming out of the 2025 Angoulême International Comics Festival, I’ve been hit with a wave of nostalgia—because wow, that whole adventure was massive. From the sheer energy of the festival to the incredible artists I met, it was the kind of experience that sticks with you.
So, I thought, why not revisit it in the best way I know how? Through drawings! Instead of just a written recap, I’m putting together a sketchbook travelogue of my memories from that whirlwind trip. Someday, I’ll also tell the story of how I got involved (spoiler: it took a lot of patience and effort from Livres Canada and some very dedicated Canadian government officials), but visually, that part would just be… me sending endless emails. Not exactly riveting material.
For now, here’s part one of The Angoulême Dispatch—a title I couldn’t resist, even if The French Dispatch is probably Wes Anderson’s weakest movie. (Great design is great design, though! And fun fact: a lot of it was filmed in Angoulême.) I’ll be sharing a new chapter every ten pages or so, so stay tuned as I keep going, and let me know what you think.

To be continued! Thanks for reading, I love you!
